Organization Profile

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to develop values in our youth that will aid them in making ethical choices throughout their lifetime. The values that are depicted in the Scout Oath and Scout Law assist young people in reaching their full potential and becoming contributors to the betterment of society. It provides assistance to them in developing citizenship, character and spiritual wellness. We serve the counties of Madison, Pierce, Cedar, Knox, Antelope, Wayne, Stanton and Dixon. In 2016 we provided our quality, values-based program to 736 boys and girls through the dedicated guidance of over 200 volunteers.

Project Description

Any donation we receive from the Norfolk Area Big Give is used to fund unparalleled experiences for more youth in the Norfolk service area; specifically in the area of our Scoutreach programs for the youth in our after-school Scouting program. These youth are receiving the traditional Scouting program where they might not have had the opportunity otherwise. The youth learn various skills in the areas of emergency preparedness, first aid, family and life skills, fitness, Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM), character development and service. They also participate in fun activities, games, pinewood derby car races, science experiments, and much more. To support one scout through an annual program suggested giving is $181 per youth.
