Organization Profile

Bright Horizons is dedicated to the elimination of domestic violence and sexual assault through empowerment, education, social action and support services. The services that we provide are free, confidential and available 24 hours a day. We provide individual advocacy, support groups, shelter services, criminal justice and legal advocacy, as well as education and prevention throughout our service area. We cover 10 counties: Antelope, Boyd, Brown, Holt, Keya Paha, Knox, Madison, Pierce, Rock and Stanton. We have a business office, confidential emergency shelter, and a transitional shelter in Norfolk.

Project Description

Bright Horizons provides shelter and support services for families affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, dating violence, and human trafficking. We have a confidential emergency shelter for families that are in crisis and need immediate safety and security. We also have a transitional shelter where families can stay for up to one year while they conserve resources, find stable employment, long-term housing, and increase their independence. Our goal for this year's Big Give is $5,000. The average cost of providing shelter for one night is $41.50 which includes staff support, housing and utilities, food, and other emergency services. With our shelters being consistently full, these funds will help us provide this vital service to families in the Norfolk area.
