Organization Profile

First United Methodist Church is a community-focused congregation built on the love and grace of Jesus Christ. We are engaged with the community through collaborative relationships, including the Wesley Center, Bright Horizons, Midtown Health Center, and Grant Elementary. Our mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ, for the transformation of the world. We long for all of us as disciples to be sent forth into service, to change lives, to help the world look more like the kingdom of God. Our project this year is another step in that direction!

Project Description

Jesus says in Matthew 25, “I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink.” But the people then asked when did this happen? He said, “Just as you did it to the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.”

Water is life! This is reality for us in Nebraska. This is reality for people around the world. The Sunday School students of First United Methodist Church have taken on a project this school year to bring about a water well for a village in Liberia, which would bring life, hope, and health. If we are able to raise the whole of this project it will mean that we can also supply the funds needed to install a latrine.

The program is through the United Methodist Committee on Relief, thus 100% of your gift will go to the project of changing lives. Here is a link to learn more about the project:

The total project is $5,000 and throughout this year we have raised $2,400, thus, we only have $2,600 to go to make a tremendous difference. Please consider a large or small gift truly to bring life and health and hope. We are blessed, so that we can be a blessing to others.

Our YouTube video includes a clip from a United Methodist Communications video about a similar project for bringing fresh water to villages in Mozambique that was facilitated through the Missouri Annual Conference. Our project location and process will be very similar. Here is a link to their full video: We wanted to share with you the impact of this important work!

Thank you for your prayers, ministries, and generosity.
