Organization Profile

The purpose of the Norfolk Senior Center shall be to cultivate friendship; develop common interests; and promote shared social, educational and recreational projects.  We serve a noon meal, have activities and provide the Meals on Wheels program.  We also provide speakers, entertainment, health screenings and a caregiver support group.  We need to raise a lot of money each year to keep our doors open.  Along with paid staff, we need the help of many volunteers.

Project Description

The money raised will go towards the purchase of the hot containers for our Meals on Wheels program.

We are serving approximately 80 people a day on Meals on Wheels.

Meals on Wheels are designed for those who are Over 60, homebound and have a physical or mental disability, which prohibits them from preparing well-balanced meals. In 2016 we served 19,414 meals to our Meals on Wheels Participants.  Because our program is a suggested donation for our participants, we do not always receive payment from them.  We have volunteers to pack and deliver our Meals on Wheels.  Every day we have two volunteers to pack the cold portion of the meals and 14 individuals to deliver them.  We are always looking for volunteers to help with our program.  We have just recently needed to replace the coolers the meals are carried in.
